If I am reading your explanation correctly you tried to correct for this by increasing the trigger weight - i.e. The only means by which I can envisage this design of trigger 'firing' when the safety catch is released is if the sear engagement is badly set so there is very little initial engagement allowing it to go off when you do not want it to.

With a correct setting, releasing the trigger blade when you are at the second stage stop point allows the sears to return to the full engagement position. The first stage movement reduces the engagement to almost a knife edge with a distinct stop point after which further pressure applied to the trigger blade fires the rifle without any perceptible movement. These triggers are 'true' two stage triggers where they should correctly be set up with a relatively large sear engagement when cocked. I would hazard a guess that the trigger on your Mk2 had been poorly set up at some point in time.

I would then swap out the bar for the new, complete trigger with bar. If I can find a trigger or trigger block for a non-SR TX, I may use the parts to create a trigger that moves with the action, but does not slam into any of the non-moving stock parts. It is very close in feel to my Steyr LG100. I have a non-SR Mk2 that has an awesome trigger as soon as you start to squeeze, you better be ready and on target. With the trigger proper separate from the trigger mechanism, this is harder to achieve.

The Mk2 SR is going to serve a a test platform for a one stage trigger that is light and predictable. I redid the whole process again and it has been acceptable, but nothing like my Mk1 that has a short first stage and a light and predictable second stage. After a few hundred shots, it again started firing when the safety was released.

I increased the tension a bit and it improved. It worked fine for a bit, but was so light as to be unpredictable. I readjusted the trigger based on information I read from SR owners. It started firing when the safety was taken off.
